Lewis Hamilton is a Formula 1 icon. The British driver dominated the sport in the turbo hybrid era with Mercedes. Hamilton bagged seven world championships and broke several records. Although the Silver Arrows struggled with the new F1 regulations, many wondered if the 38-year-old would continue with the sport. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc is also rumored as a potential replacement. Lewis recently dismissed such speculation.

The 7-time world champion was recently questioned about rumors surrounding him and Charles Leclerc. Hamilton mentioned his indifference to this issue and believed that F1 drivers can be in touch with other team’s bosses. He said, “Not really. Maybe all the drivers have relationships with different bosses.” The 38-year-old further stated his own contentment with his time at Mercedes.

The British driver was happy with the Silver Arrows as he has spent over a decade at Brackley and achieved unprecedented success. Lewis explained, “I like where I am. I love my team. I am grateful for the journey that we’ve been on, and what we’re working on moving forwards.” Subsequently, the 38-year-old denied being affected by the Leclerc rumors. The Mercedes driver said, “It doesn’t have any impact, no.”

Hamilton is not concerned about rumors regarding Leclerc’s talks with Mercedes

The Briton mentioned his strong bonds with members of Mercedes during his time with the team. Hamilton and Toto Wolff have a great relationship at the Silver Arrows. Lewis continued, “I’ve got some amazing allies. I’ve got great relationships here.” 

The 38-year-old was convinced he’ll continue racing for Mercedes if he could help the German team. Lewis Hamilton said, “I think, for me personally, just as long as I can continue to help the team, as long as I can continue to help drive the team forwards and contribute, then that’s why I want to stay.”

Hamilton contemplated leaving his seat for a younger driver when he thought the time was right. Although, for now, the 38-year-old considers himself fit to race in F1. Lewis stated, “If there’s ever going to be a point where I feel like I’m not able to do that, then it’s time for a youngster to come in to take my seat. But I’m still pretty young, in pretty decent shape.”

Thus, Lewis Hamilton has clarified that the British driver intends to continue at Mercedes. The 7-time world champion is not in the mood to give up on his successful career in F1. Subsequently, Hamilton is here to stay for now. However, fans wouldn’t rule out the possibility of the 38-year-old leaving the sport in a couple of seasons.
