Lewis Hamilton has started his eighth season with Mercedes, but it is not the best start he has been having moreover it is the worst in the last 13 years.

Mercedes are having the worst season since 2014, they are currently P3 in the championship with 56 points. They have only managed 2 podiums this season and no win yet. With a new entry into the team, George Russell is having one of his best seasons ever with a struggling Mercedes. He is fourth in the championship, has managed 1 podium and is the only driver to finish in the top 5 in every race.

Russell has beaten his teammate in four of the five races this season. Lewis Hamilton on the other hand is struggling a lot he has been on the podium once this season in the first race. But as the season continued he got worse and struggled even to finish in points.

All this is to be blamed on the tough car Mercedes has built. The car is suffering the most from porpoising, a ground effect that makes the car bounce in a straight line. Due to the effect drivers have been suffering a lot, physically as well.

Lewis Hamilton is a seven-time world champion, he won one championship with McLaren back in 2008. He is struggling this year with a tough car.

But this is not the first time he has been in this position 2009 McLaren was the first time Lewis had to go through a bad phase.  He ultimately fights a lot and managed to get a win that year as well.

But Mercedes is working hard to solve all these problems and they have already done it but in theory, said Lewis “In theory, the downforce is good. In reality, the porpoising is in the way, and that’s not a problem that can be solved overnight,” in an interview with Auto, Motor und Sport.

We also saw Russell topping the FP2 in Miami but later lost all that pace later that weekend which means there is still room for a lot of improvement.
