The 2023 United States Grand Prix is well underway. During the first cycle, Lewis Hamilton was told to stay out of the pits by Mercedes despite Max Verstappen and Lando Norris pitting before him. The decision to stay ut backfired for the team as he valuable time to his rivals. Hamilton was fought, fuming on team Radio when Bono told him Verstappen had negated his time advantage.

Lewis Hamilton has been in high spirits throughout the Austin race weekend so far and, ahead of the ongoing race, was oozing a lot of confidence around triumphing in the event. However, since his first pitstop, his morale has taken a big hit, and he has yelled at his team over the radio for the slow pitstop.

While interacting with his team just a few moments ago, his conversation went like this,

Bono: Verstappen now inside our pit window.
Hamilton: No ****, man, I’m struggling out here!

Looking at the reaction of the 38-year-old, it is quite clear that he was not happy with his pitstop and felt Mercedes missed a trick.

Moreover, with him currently four seconds behind Lando Norris, the event has become immensely tougher. If Hamilton wants to have a serious go at the win, he would need to clear Norris’s MCL60 as soon as possible and then set about chasing after Max Verstappen’s mighty RB19. Not a whole lot of laps are remaining during the ongoing race.

Lewis Hamilton has not won an F1 Grand Prix since 2021

While Lewis Hamilton is fully focused on winning the ongoing United States Grand Prix, much of the motivation behind it has stemmed from the fact that he has not won an F1 race since Saudi Arabia 2021. The new regulations have not been kind to Mercedes, and Hamilton has, thus, not been able to go after race victories.

The new regulations kicked in at the start of the 2022 F1 season and are going to stay in effect until the end of 2025; considering this, it is quite understandable as to why Hamilton sounded extremely frustrated over his team radio during the ongoing Austin race. The Brit maestro wants to end his win drought as soon as possible.

However, while Lewis Hamilton is currently giving his all behind the wheel of the W14, it seems very unlikely that he will be able to win the 2023 United States Grand Prix. Max Verstappen is leading the race, and it has become a theme this year that once he takes the lead, it becomes impossible to get the better of him.
