The paddock has been speculating over the 38-year-old’s future for the past few months. Hamilton has finally revealed the progress on a contract extension with Mercedes during the British GP weekend.
At the Austrian GP, Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff stated that the British driver had agreed with the financial terms for a contract renewal. Now, the 7-time world champion has confirmed Wolff’s claims. The 38-year-old said, “That’s correct.” Hamilton has been a mainstay of the Brackley-based team since 2013 and looks set to continue for the long term.
