Lewis Hamilton has been with the Mercedes F1 team since 2013. The British driver has broken several records during his time in Brackley with a total of 6 world titles. However, the 38-year-old has been disappointed with the team’s results with the ground-effect regulations. F1 pundit Naomi Schiff believes the 7-time champion might consider leaving his career if the new Monaco GP upgrade package fails to bring results.
Schiff believed that the 38-year-old is not planning on leaving the Silver Arrows yet. However, things could change if the new upgrade package for the Monaco GP doesn’t live up to the team’s expectations. This could leave Mercedes struggling to match its rivals in the foreseeable future and force Lewis Hamilton to rethink his plans.
Naomi said, “Then he will be considering in what manner he wants to end his career in Formula 1”. The F1 pundit reckoned that Hamilton would not want to continue in the sport if it was only for the last spot on the podium. The 7-time world champion runs out of his contract with Silver Arrows at the end of the 2023 season and could look for other options.

A lot depends on new Mercedes upgrades
Mercedes have brought major side pod upgrades to the Monaco GP in a bid to close up to Red Bull. This is the start of major in-season development outlined in Brackley. Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff is confident this could allow the team to progress in the pecking order. Certainly, Lewis would be hoping for better results in this race.
However, there have already been rumors regarding Ferrari’s multi-million offer to Hamilton for 2024. As such, the Silver Arrows might be running short of time if the 38-year-old is interested in joining Maranello. Although, for now, the 7-time champion has not commented about potentially leaving Mercedes in favor of the Scuderia.
Thus, Naomi Schiff is confident that pressure is mounting on Mercedes to convince its star driver to continue with the team. Lewis Hamilton has been a stable part of the Silver Arrows for over a decade. It would be a massive blow to Wolff’s squad if the 38-year-old decides to jump ship to an arch-rival of the German automaker.
