Lewis Hamilton, the Mercedes F1 driver, has been stuck on eight World Championships since 2020. Keeping the statement into view, F1 analyst, Martin Brundle has recently talked about the various team options that Hamilton has in order to win his record-breaking ninth F1 World Championship.
While it is a common belief that Lewis Hamilton has started contract discussions with the Brackley-based Mercedes F1 Team, it has, however, not certain anymore as to what the Brit is thinking. Hamilton wants to win his ninth World Championship but things are not looking very promising at his current employers.
The shenanigans have started within the paddock, and Martin Brundle, while addressing the topic, said, “There’s a lot of good reasons to stay at Mercedes, he just needs them to tell him how they’re going to sort this out. But you know, [Ayrton] Senna left McLaren to go to Williams, Schumacher went off to Ferrari, didn’t he? And it took a long time but they made that work.”
“So these great drivers are not scared of going somewhere and then galvanizing and getting a lot of new people around them and making something happen, and I think there must be part of Lewis that thinks, ‘you know, I’d love to go to Ferrari and do a Michael Schumacher and really turn that back into [a winning team] – if I can’t win my eighth or ninth right now, why don’t I go and have some fun there?“
Martin Brundle sees the Ferrari F1 team as a possible outfit for Lewis Hamilton to go and achieve his target. Moreover, Brundle has also mentioned that success would not be guaranteed at Ferrari immediately. But feels Hamilton can build the team into a Championship-winning contender. Lewis Hamilton still has all the skills in his arsenal to win a World Championship. If he certainly decides to make the switch to Ferrari in the upcoming years, it would be fascinating to see how the team would deal with having a high profile like Hamilton in its garage. The Brit is a talking point wherever he goes.

Lewis Hamilton has got options other than Ferrari as well
While Martin Brundle sees Ferrari as the ideal place for Lewis Hamilton to go, if he decides to go, he has got a few other teams as well that could look to get him on board if he makes himself available for other teams. Moreover, Brundle ardently believes that considering Hamilton’s age, he has got one roll of the dice left to make things work. While talking about the same, Brundle said, “Going to Mercedes looked like a risk at the time but what we didn’t know was all the things that Ross Brawn, Andy Cowell, and many others could tell Lewis – ‘have a look at our hybrid power-unit that we’ve got coming, we’re miles ahead of anybody else.”
“I think it’s absolutely clear that taking that eighth title is everything to him now, to move that high tide mark and be right up there and considered the greatest and have one more than anybody else is important to him, and I think he’ll want to drive wherever he can achieve that. If he went to Ferrari, for example, would you be certain you could achieve that better there? They’ve got a number of their own challenges at the moment.”
“Would he get in the door at Red Bull? Because that’s the only place right now you’d think he could go to. Could you have a Verstappen-Hamilton line-up? Could you afford them? Do you need that? Because I think Red Bull is quite happy with a number one and a one-and-a-half driver in their car.”
Martin Brundle, in detail, has talked about the various options that Lewis Hamilton could have if he decides to leave the Mercedes team. Moreover, he has also hinted towards having a Max Verstappen-Lewis Hamilton driver combination at Red Bull. While it sounds impossible, if this somehow became a reality in the upcoming years, the F1 World would go bonkers. Having Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen on the same team is a concept that is unfathomable for the whole F1 community. The two have been at each other’s throats in recent years, and especially considering the World Championship fight between the two during the 2021 F1 season, the prospect seems highly unlikely.
