Lewis Hamilton pulls a hilarious prank on George Russell leaving all of us confused

Lewis Hamilton and George Russell make up one of the stronger driver lineups on the Formula 1 grid this year. Both Brits have amazing talent with a hunger for winning. Lewis needs no introduction, the history books tell enough about him itself with 7-world titles and 103 Grand Prix victories. George on the other hand proved himself by giving stellar performances at Williams in rather underwhelming machinery. Thus when Mercedes announced the pair for 2022, the duo had high expectations to live up to.

Liberty Media, ever since acquiring Formula 1, has been on a spree of adding new races to the sport as it attracts millions of newer fans. Las Vegas is the next new addition to the F1 calendar, with the first race to be held in 2023. To commemorate the new Grand Prix, Formula 1 held the Las Vegas Grand Prix launch on Saturday on the famous Las Vegas Strip. With the drivers putting on a show for the fans, driving and doing burnouts in older F1 machinery.

The two Mercedes drivers were the highlights of the Launch spectacle as they ran the older F1 cars with under glow lights, which matched the vibes of the city and even made the fans wish to have the lights in all the night races in Formula 1. The British duo also had a run in the Mercedes Safety car, probably to test the car before its inevitable run in the race next year.

“I didn’t really do it” – Lewis Hamilton leaves us all speculating whether he did prank George

The Silver Arrows garnered the most attention at the Las Vegas Launch with the under-glow lights complimenting the city’s skyline

In a video uploaded on Twitter, Hamilton admits to his teammate that he “turned the traction control off” which was the reason behind the 24-year-old’s failure of doing a burnout in the safety car. Lewis further laughed and said, “So when you tried to do the burnouts, you couldn’t do any.” Russell was amused and accepted the 37-year-old’s prank. Lewis followed it up by mentioning how Russell talked about the car not braking traction.

The anchor called it out as typical teammate behavior while George cried, “Playing games!” But then came the twist, as the 7-time world champion took back his statement and said, “I’m messing with you, I didn’t really do it,” baffling his younger teammate who now could not figure out if Lewis actually did it or whether that was indeed the cause behind the car not losing traction. This conversation not only confused Russell but the fans as well, leaving only Lewis Hamilton as the one who knows what happened. Whether the prank was Lewis turning off the traction control or Lewis lying about turning it off, the whole thing is hilarious and that’s the only thing we could tell.
