Firstly, I hadn’t even had, like, an acting lesson, And I don’t want to be the one that lets this movie down. And then secondly, I just really didn’t have the time to dedicate to it.
Lewis Hamilton told GQ

The Briton recalled that he informed Joseph Kosinski and Tom Cruise how he would be unable to act in the movie. Hamilton mentioned that he was heartbroken to turn down the offer. After watching the film, the 39-year-old regretted it even further because he realized that he could’ve shared the big screen with the Hollywood icon.

I remember having to tell Joe and Tom—and it broke my heart. And then I regretted it, naturally, when they show me the movie and it’s: It could’ve been me!
Lewis Hamilton stated.

Lewis Hamilton claimed that he ‘canceled everything ‘ to be on Tom Cruise’s Edge Of Tomorrow set

Lewis Hamilton is a big-time fan of Tom Cruise. Hence, the Briton recalled back when he was invited on the set of one of Cruise’s films, ‘Edge of Tomorrow.’ The 39-year-old told his assistant to cancel everything as he wanted to be on the set of the movie.

My assistant called me: ‘Tom Cruise has invited you to the set.’ I was just like: ‘Shoot, yeah?! Cancel anything I have!’

After visiting the set, Lewis Hamilton formed a great friendship with the Hollywood icon. The Mercedes driver revealed that Tom Cruise used to message him before the races. The texts contained motivating messages from the actor and his team wishing him luck before a Grand Prix. As such, Hamilton is definitely on the radar of Cruise for any future opportunities to act in a movie.

‘Me and the team want to wish you good luck with the race’—that sort of thing,
Lewis Hamilton said.

However, Hamilton’s current priorities lie within Formula 1 and performing better in his ultimate year at Mercedes. The 39-year-old might still be keen on acting in the future. Lewis Hamilton’s fans would certainly love to see the Briton on the big screen someday.
