The Mercedes F1 driver Lewis Hamilton had a pretty up-and-down 2023 season. But despite his troubles, he ended the campaign in a respectable third place in the Driver’s Championship. Hamilton was awarded for his efforts at the recent FIA Gala but as per reports, it has come to light that he left his third place trophy at the event itself.

Many off-track shenanigans have taken place since the end of the recent F1 season and the one that accumulated the most limelight was the saga between the Wolff’s and the FIA. Lewis Hamilton did not hesitate to bash the FIA during its Gala and was looking in a sour mood throughout the evening.

While Hamilton did his best to keep things under check, the happenings at the event combined with the Wolff’s and FIA saga proved too much for him and thus, he reportedly left his P3 trophy at the event itself. Moreover, while receiving the award, he added;

We are constantly fighting to improve diversity and inclusion in the industry. But it seems that there are certain people in the leadership of the FIA who, every time we try to take a step forward, try to take us back.

Looking at the reaction of the former 7-time world champion, it seems that he left his trophy at the Gala out of pure frustration for how Toto Wolff and Susie Wolff’s names were dragged through the mud by the FIA.

Lewis Hamilton has had a tough 2023 for several reasons

While Lewis Hamilton reportedly left the P3 trophy at the FIA Gala, frustration has been building up in him from pretty much the start of the 2023 F1 season. The Mercedes F1 team was not able to produce a championship-worthy car this year and Hamilton was pretty disappointed by it.

Moreover, the car proved extremely unpredictable throughout the campaign and the Brit was seen struggling with it on several occasions. While he was able to manage a P3 finish in the driver championship, he was not at all pleased with the car and bashed it several times throughout the season.

Lewis Hamilton at 38 years of age, is desperate to have at least one more go at the world championship and thus, the onus is really on Mercedes to provide him with a lethal weapon in the upcoming years. Hamilton’s current deal with the German team will run out at the end of 2025.
