Lewis Hamilton is currently involved with one of the biggest projects to ever be affiliated with F1. Hamilton is helping produce a Formula One film, the first big movie about the pinnacle of motorsport since Rush (2013). Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt is starring in the movie ‘Apex’.

Pitt, along with co-star Damson Idris, has been training to drive a car with a modified chassis to look like a modern F1 car. They began filming for the movie during the Silverstone Grand Prix weekend. It was planned that filming would continue at venues across the 2023 season, Las Vegas being a significant one among them.

Unfortunately for the project, a strike began earlier this year that demanded higher payment for writers. This has caused its filming to be halted. As the strike ended recently, Brad Pitt and Damon Idris have been training to get back into the racing car. Though unable to film in the Las Vegas race weekend. Lewis Hamilton lamented the delay, saying a very significant scene was to be shot in Sin City. However, the crew had been forced to get rid of it.

Brad and Damson [are] back in training getting ready to get back in the car. We were supposed to be filming this weekend. If there wasn’t a strike we would have been filming one of the really cool scenes here this weekend.

Hamilton has been helping with the project since its inception, serving as executive producer for the film. The 7x World Champion had said that he would not miss out on such a huge cinema opportunity. Previously Lewis Hamilton had been unable to cameo in the hit Tom Cruise movie Top Gun: Maverick.

Lewis Hamilton unaffected by fellow drivers’ jetlag problems

The Las Vegas Grand Prix shook up F1 drivers’ routines due to the Pacific Time Zone. The unique schedule led to jetlag for many on the grid. Some drivers shared their jetlag concerns in Wednesday’s press conference, but Lewis Hamilton had an interesting take, stating it wasn’t a problem for him.

Fernando Alonso said very clearly that the schedule inflicted upon the drivers was “not okay”, though he admitted F1 is inherently a tough sport. Nico Hulkenberg said the jetlag is part of the international sport, as it goes across the globe. Carlos Sainz offered caffeine as a solution, saying the adrenaline gets rid of the jet lag.

Hamilton said he hasn’t found any problem with the jet lag at any point in the year. The Briton said the schedule may be demanding, but the difficulty of F1 is what makes it exclusive. Hamilton added that the drivers should cope with the schedule, saying they know coming into the season what it entails.

I saw the drivers in there before all complaining about the jet lag. I mean, jet lag is something that’s probably can get all of us but I’ve not found it a problem since I’ve been here. It is demanding but we know that entering the sport, we know what a season entails. And there’s three back-to-backs, so definitely tough but if it was easy, everyone would do it.

The Las Vegas GP’s timezone problems are compounded by the race ending at midnight. As the first Saturday race in years, the Grand Prix will begin at 10 PM local time and end at midnight on Sunday. The qualifying session will also be held at the same time 24 hours prior so that both sessions will be completely under the lights in Las Vegas.
