Lewis Hamilton had qualified a mere ninth position for the race held today under the lights in Bahrain. Yet, the race did not go well for the Mercedes driver, as he was stuck in a tough battle with Oscar Piastri. During this time, the seven-time champion reported that he was struggling with a broken seat.

The race began uneventfully as Max Verstappen took the lead from the pole position and was putting miles between him and other drivers. On the contrary, the Brit was in a fight of his own, as he broke his seat!

Hamilton was in a fight to salvage his spot in the top 10. However, due to high G-forces going through the cars all the time and the bumpiness of the track, the Briton’s seat might have broken.

What was Lewis Hamilton’s verdict on his performance at the Bahrain GP?

The Mercedes driver finished down in seventh place almost a minute behind the behemoth, Verstappen. Later, Hamilton shared his opinion regarding his performance.

I personally feel great. Physically I feel great, winter training worked! We probably feel a little bit of disappointment within the team. I haven’t seen everyone but, I was definitely hoping we’d be better this weekend than we were.

Hamilton in the post-race interview explained that there would be a bit of disappointment within the team regarding his performance. In comparison, Mercedes’s nearest rivals claimed P3 and P4 respectively making the team go on the back foot.

Who will have the upper hand in team dynamics at Mercedes?

Last year, it was a clean sweep at the German manufacturer for the seven-time champion. However, with the young starlet, George Russell leveling up his game, a situation of civil war may arise at the Silver Arrows.

The 26-year-old had joined the team back in 2022. In his first year, the Briton managed to beat his compatriot pretty much throughout the season. However, the seven-time champion bounced back last season and claimed third position overall.

With the inaugural race behind the duo, Russell seems to be in front of his fellow compatriot. Russell finished in the top five in Bahrain while Hamilton managed to secure a seventh-place finish. Thus, the battle for the top spot in the Mercs will be one to look out for.
