Mercedes came into the 2024 season determined to close the gap of Red Bull with their redesigned W15. They set giving Lewis Hamilton and George Russell cars capable of wining GPs as their primary goals. But just two races in 2024 they have reduced their expectations, following back-to-back outing in the middle where they failed to field reliable cars.
The seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton even admitted that he no longer trusts the car. After a disappointing Saudi Arabian GP on Sunday, the team principal Toto Wolff stated that they are yet to uncover the main issue surrounding the car. Despite the fundamental issue with car, the team principal is confident that they will bounce back.

We are on a mission on this one, and I am 100% sure that we are going to unlock that performance gap.Toto Wolff said: (H&T: silverarrows.net).
Toto Wolff is confident in their team and it’s working on their car. He believes that ahead of the Australian Grand Prix they will be able to fix the issues with the car. Their main focus is currently on the speed, especially on corners. Australian GP is not until next weekend, which allows the team to do the repairs.
Lewis Hamilton also has a Felipe Massa’s lawsuit against F1 to worry about
In 2008, Sir Lewis Hamilton won his first-ever Formula One championship. Up till the moment the current Mercedes driver has 7 world championships under his belt. Felip Massa who lost the championship to Hamilton by a point believes that he is the rightful owner of the 2008 title.

Hence, he has filed a lawsuit to make things right. While talking to the media regarding the lawsuit filed by Massa against F1 and FIA body, Lewis Hamilton in whose name currently title resides told the media;
If that’s the direction that Felipe wants to go, that’s his decision. I prefer not to focus on the past. Whether it’s 15 years ago, two years ago, or three days ago, I’m only interested in the present.Lewis Hamiton said, (H&T: theguardian.com).
During the 2008 championship, there was a lot of controversy regarding the deliberate crash that took place in the Singapore GP, where Renault staged a crash for Fernando Alonso to win the GP, and asked Nelson Piquet Jr to crash in the other car. Felipe Massa who was affected by the deliberate crash, due to lack of investigation into the matter, lost his title is what is believed.
