Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso have had an exhilarating start to their respective Formula 1 campaigns so far.
The Dutchmann finally has a car that can match his calibre and his two world driver’s championship trophies are solid proof of that. Meanwhile Fernando Alonso hasn’t won a championship as of late but he is looking to add more to his tally of 2.

While Verstappen leads the championship and has won multiple races already in the 2023 F1 season, Fernando Alonso has been doing something sensational himself. After the Spaniard announced his move to Aston Martin last year, he was laughed on as the team was in the bottom pile of the standings. However, when it comes to the current season, the UK based team has caused havoc in the Formula 1 paddock.

With it’s sudden increase in power, the team has shot up to P2 in the constructors standings while Fernando Alonso has been getting a podium almost every single race. With the 24hrs of LeMans taking place on 10th June, Alonso reiterated his intent in having Max Verstappen compete with him to win the prestigious endurance race. It would be a stepping stone in achieving the coveted triple crown of motorsport.

In an interview, here is what the Spaniard had to say. “In the future, for sure, if there is any opportunity [to race at Le Mans with Verstappen],” Alonso stated. “We are very good friends, we are always in contact. I would love to do Le Mans – if I do Le Mans once again – with Max. You know that [when] you pass the car [to your teammates] – when you go to rest – [you are passing it to] the best [drivers], so your car is in the best hands.
That would be an honour,” he continued.

Max Verstappen is an avid sim races and has taken part in many online endurance events. It is clear that the Dutchman has the competitive spirit and can ace anyone. Alonso is a WEC champion so both the drivers teaming up would be pretty crazy. For now, the Aston Martin driver has his eyes on Monaco where he will be gunning for his 33rd victory in the pinnacle of motorsport.
