Super License has been in discussion lately due to Logan Sargeant‘s proposed entry into Formula One with Williams. But one thing that many of the F1 followers might not be aware of is that each of the F1 racers are obligated to pay a special ‘super licence tax’ which is determined according to the F1 points the driver has scored in the previous year.

Going by the rules prevalent in F1, the racer with more points in the WDC table will pay a bigger sum for his Super License. Thus, owing to his brilliant performance throughout this year and his record-breaking 14 Grands Prix wins in a single season, a hefty sum has been levied upon Max Verstappen in 2022–and the amount is, in one word, astronomical.

According to the regulations, the annual renewal of his Super License status will require Max Verstappen to pay around $1000000. This includes a €10,000 renewal fee and €2,100 for each points he has scored last season.

Judging by the numbers, Max Verstappen will have to pay the basic Super License renewal fee of €10,400, but his added burden is the €2,100 pay per point. As the Dutchman has 416, as of now, on the table, it looks like he will have to pay a fee of €884,000 to keep driving in F1 in the upcoming seasons. This is loosely worth over a million dollars.

Everyone knows, with great power, comes great responsibilities, and in Max Verstappen’s case, with great results, comes a mile-long bill from the FIA for maintaining his Super License status. According to the governing body of Formula One, the “tax” for the Super License of the drivers goes into improving safety measures, and other important steps that the FIA are always undertaking.

Now, there are two races still left on the roster, with an added Sprint Race in Brazil. If Max scores the maximum points in all of them, then he can still get 60 more points. This would take his Super License tax over a million euros.

Compared this to his rivals, who have had a underwhelming season so far, teammate Sergio Perez and major rival Charles Leclerc, his tax would be almost double. This because the fact that the dup hasn’t been able to secure half of the Dutchman’s point due to their inconsistency.
