“I don’t expect anything to change,” Sergio Perez on his relations with Max Verstappen
In the past weeks, rumors have surfaced that tensions have risen in the Red Bull camp. Sergio Perez clarified that he and Max Verstappen are mature and would not have a disastrous relationship that could hamper the team. The Mexican driver said, “I think we are both mature enough to know what’s right and what’s wrong. As long as that keeps being the case, then I don’t expect anything to change.”
Additionally, Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner stated that the Austrian team would provide equal opportunities for both drivers. This, in turn, would put Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez against one another for the championship. Although, things might develop further over the course of the season. For now, Verstappen leads the championship from Perez by 15 points.
Thus, Sergio Perez will not leave any stone unturned in his challenge to Verstappen this season. The Mexican driver is eager to finally have a shot at the F1 championship. Subsequently, Sergio will not play second fiddle to his teammate. However, it remains to be seen how things pan out this season, and whether Perez can sustain the challenge to Verstappen.
