Formula 1 will soon have a new film starring Hollywood icon Brad Pitt. The movie is being produced by Apple and Lewis Hamilton with the seven-time world champion acting as a consultant as well. However, it seems that reigning world champion Max Verstappen doesn’t want to watch this highly-anticipated project.
Verstappen has been fond of Brad Pitt’s films in the past. Pitt’s movies such as Ocean’s Eleven and Ocean’s Twelve had a major impact on the three-time champion. Max Verstappen revealed that drivers were shown a few clips from the film before the US GP. Moreover, the filmmakers even explained how those scenes had been shot.
Before the US Grand Prix in Austin, I saw a few clips from the new film. They were shown during the drivers’ meeting with an explanation of how they had filmed it all.Max Verstappen told Formule1.nl
Unfortunately, the 26-year-old was not thrilled by the film. Max Verstappen reckoned that he wasn’t eager to see a dramatized version of his own sport. Although the Dutch driver respected the effort that was put into the entire project. The as-of-yet untitled film will see Brad Pitt and Damson Idris play the role of teammates at an eleventh F1 team named APXGP.
Nice to see, but it doesn’t really interest me that much. I don’t need to see a film of my own sport. This film is of course a made-up story and everything is always over-dramatised, you have to love that. I personally don’t have that much with that.
Lewis Hamilton hints at some tweaks in the F1 film script
Hamilton’s dream project has a lot of work remaining as the sport heads into the winter break. The 38-year-old has mentioned that he would be meeting the Director and Producer of the project to take a look at the script once again. Subsequently, Lewis Hamilton reckoned that a few tweaks could be made to the film’s script.
In December, I’ll probably spend a day or so with Joe [Kosinski, director] and Jerry [Bruckheimer, producer], just going over the script.Lewis Hamilton said as reported by PlanetF1
On the other hand, Brad Pitt and Damson Idris would be going through extensive training over the winter. The two stars will be looking to improve their fitness further to drive their cars next season. Lewis Hamilton acknowledged that F1 drivers were shown clips from the film at the US GP as stated by Max Verstappen.
Certainly, the F1 film remains one of the most highly-anticipated motorsport movies in recent times. Such films have a big market as was seen by the recent success of Gran Turismo. However, Hamilton and the filmmakers would have much higher ambitions for this project considering Brad Pitt’s role and the production value.
