Sergio Perez’s dry spell of performances came to an end in Hungary. Although his weekend had a disappointing start with his crash in FP1, he made a good comeback in the qualifying, securing P9. In the race, after many overtaking and beating the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Oscar Piastri in the upgraded McLaren, Perez finally secured a place on the podium with a P3 finish.

His teammate Max Verstappen was asked to rate Perez’s recent form. The Dutchman refused, saying he hates assigning numbers or grades to efforts. He also emphasized that the duo was first and second in the standings, which is good enough for the team.

“I don’t like to give out numbers because you never do justice to it – I hate it. We just need to keep on working. Sometimes you have a few tough moments where you make mistakes, you learn from them, you become a better driver and you move on. Some things are also out of your control,” said Verstappen.

Sergio Perez clinched a much-needed podium in Hungary. The Mexican’s seat in Red Bull is being eyed by Daniel Ricciardo, who will be looking to upgrade from AlphaTauri. But despite the pressure, Perez will surely be going into the Belgian GP with a much more optimistic mindset.

Following the Hungarian Grand Prix, Mercedes principal Toto Wolff made astonishing comparisons between Red Bull and other F1 teams. He said that all the cars on the grid looked like F2 cars in front of the RB-19. Red Bull’s Christian Horner came forward to reply to these comments.

Christian Horner says Red Bull’s results are due to the team’s combined efforts. With the 1.9-second pit stop and strong strategies for both drivers, the team operates at the highest level, which is the reason for the results Red Bull is giving.

“The way the team is working, it’s all about the details. The strategy was strong, a 1.9s pit stop for Checo. You’re seeing a whole team operating at such a high level. There is no silver bullet in F1 and it is always a culmination of factors that have to come together to achieve these kind of results,” said Horner.
