Christian Horner has been facing criticism from fans and the media in the past few weeks. The 50-year-old was under investigation against claims of inappropriate behavior. A massive alleged evidence leak shocked the F1 paddock regarding Horner’s case just a few hours after the Briton was cleared of all charges. Now, Max Verstappen‘s father Jos Verstappen has broken his silence about this leak.
Previously, there had been reports that Jos Verstappen had a fallout with Christian Horner over the accusations. Many believed that this was the reason why the news of the investigation was leaked to the Dutch press. Although, Horner had denied all claims regarding any conflict with Max Verstappen’s family.
Jos Verstappen was asked by The Times about the alleged evidence leak. The former F1 driver gave a rather short and blunt answer. The Dutchman revealed that he too was sent the email with the Google Drive link. This email was sent to various figures in the F1 paddock including F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali and Liberty Media.
Jos Verstappen told The TimesYes, I have the email too.
Could conflict arise between Christian Horner and Max Verstappen?
Christian Horner has played a pivotal role in Max Verstappen’s rise in Formula 1 including the 26-year-old switch to Milton Keynes in 2016. However, a rift might be created within the Red Bull camp if more revelations are made in the Briton’s case. Albeit there has been no official confirmation on any details regarding the alleged evidence.
Max Verstappen recently gave a straightforward response to questions about Christian Horner. The 50-year-old simply wanted to focus on the season opener and get a decent result for Red Bull. However, it will be difficult for the reigning F1 champion to avoid the situation if things get worse for the Red Bull team boss.
Christian Horner has remained the Team Principal at Milton Keynes. However, there is uncertainty about his future. F1 and the FIA will discuss this alarming matter during the Bahrain GP weekend. As such it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds in the coming days.
