McLaren provided huge boost ahead of Spanish GP: Upgrade could be worth up to five tenths of a lap

McLaren are set to bring in upgrades after they have struggled to get going as they find themselves at fourth position. After a successful season, this was an opportunity for McLaren to go on from there and hunt for that third position. Mercedes has been their direct rival following their struggles with porposing. The German manufacturers have just not able to fire up that W-13 with both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell complaining about the problems.

The team from Woking would feel that it a huge opportunity would have slipped from their hands if they are not able to take full advantage of a slip-up from Mercedes. The biggest worry for them has been the lack of form shown by Daniel Ricciardo. The Australian has been able to score points in only one race out of the five that he has driven in. This is not something McLaren had signed him for.

But there is some good news for him McLaren is set to bring in upgrades ahead of the Spanish GP. “McLaren’s upgrade package for the Spanish GP could be worth up to 5 tenths a lap.”

This could help Daniel Ricciardo have an edge over the other drivers as he has been struggling for pace. Lando Norris also had a Miami GP to forget and would love to get things back on track after his crash. Ahead of the Spanish GP, he said, “I’m excited to be heading back to Europe and racing in Barcelona this weekend. I like the circuit in Spain as it has some nice features, a mixture of challenges and speeds, and a great crowd.

“I’ve put the retirement in Miami behind me and I’m fully focused on the race ahead.”

“Miami highlighted that we still have a way to go to get back to consistently fighting at the top but it’s important for us to remain optimistic,” as reported by givemesport.

The upgrades were something that were much needed for McLaren to give them a boost after their debacle in Miami. Let’s hope all falls into place at the Spanish GP for the Woking based team.
