The end of the Formula 1 2023 season was supposed to be a boring and mundane affair since the fans would not have any Grands Prix to look forward to. But as it turns out, the F1 world has gotten overwhelmed by the back-to-back news headlines that have been coming at it from all directions. First, it was Charles Leclerc‘s multi-year contract with Ferrari that might be the Scuderia’s first-ever indefinite contract in history. Secondly, Lando Norris extended his 6-year-long relationship with McLaren by signing yet another deal. And now, it is Lewis Hamilton’s time in the F1 silly season market.

Seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton is no less than a huge phenomenon in the Formula 1 circuit. With countless records and 104 Grand Prix wins to his name, Lewis has even surpassed German motorsports legend Michael Schumacher in some ways. And after achieving such great feats, the Briton does not seem like he is going to slow down any time soon even though he is 39 years old–an age when most racers retire from F1.

And surprising all his fans and even the Tifosis who support Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton has suddenly announced a move to the Scuderia after 11 years at Mercedes. The partnership between the German manufacturers and Hamilton has seen six World Drivers’ Championship titles as well as eight back-to-back F1 Constructors’ Championship wins for Mercedes. But now, the two will part ways and Toto Wolff‘s team has finally released a comment confirming the same.

Lewis Hamilton’s former Championship rival from Ferrari, Felipe Massa, supports his move

Lewis Hamilton has had a flying tenure at Mercedes with six World Drivers’ Championships, but his debut title came while he was at McLaren in 2008. He had beaten Felipe Massa to the coveted golden trophy in F1, and later, it was known that there was some controversy regarding Massa’s defeat. Thus, the Brazilian had even started a lawsuit demanding compensation for his lost Championship title.

But now, it seems the bad blood between Felipe Massa and Lewis Hamilton is long gone as the Brazilian supported the latter’s move to Maranello by taking to his Instagram. He shared an image of Lewis Hamilton that was edited to show him wearing a Ferrari racing suit, and wrote, “cool” with a sticker to express s ‘thumbs up’.

Lewis Hamilton would be entering his eighteenth season in Formula 1. And now it is clear that it will be his last campaign with Mercedes. The Briton has not won a single Grand Prix in the last 2 years, so the ulterior motive for this season would be to go for the win. It remains to be seen if Lewis can make that happen with the Mercedes challenger that the German manufacturers provide him with in 2024 or if his attempt results in nothing at all in the end.
