After a rollercoaster ride at the Circuit of the Americas, the F1 circus is now gearing up to move to Mexico for the next round of racing. The United States GP was a spectacular treat for the fans of Max Verstappen as the Dutchman captured victory by surpassing his heavyweight rivals Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. On the other hand, Hamilton and Leclerc landed a massive penalty due to their rulebreak which resulted in them being disqualified from the race altogether. Thus, the standings had to be rearranged with Max retaining his top spot, followed by Lando Norris in P2 and Carlos Sainz in the third place.
Unfortunately for Max Verstappen’s Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez, the Mexican narrowly pissed out on a podium finish as he stood fourth at the US GP. But he will soon be seen having another go at it at his home race in Mexico. However, there has been an interesting development recently regarding the Grand Prix at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. Some latest reports suggest that the FIA and the Formula One Management authority might have to suspend the race in lieu of a natural calamity.
Hurricane Otis is the reason why the Mexican GP stands threatened right now. On Wednesday, it made its landfall near Acapulco, which is 4 hours and 45 minutes away from the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Since then, the storm has intensified into a Category 5 disaster with its winds reaching a speed of 165 mph, as reported by Axios. This has led to some speculations that Mexican GP might see a repeat of Imola where the race was suspended due to a widespread flood.
The Mexican National Hurricane Center calls the existing situation there a ‘nightmare scenario’
During the Imola Grand Prix, the Formula 1 crew had already arrived when some dangerous floods ravaged the Emilia Romagna region as water levels rose in the Santerno River near the circuit. The AlphaTauri motorhome was the worst hit as they had to take help from Yuki Tsunoda to clean up after the floods had subsided. And the fans are afraid a similar situation might unfold in Mexico.

The National Hurricane Center in the North American country came out with their statement on the damage that the natural disaster might cause.
A nightmare scenario is unfolding. [There would be] life-threatening winds and catastrophic storm surge. Heavy rainfall from Otis will produce flash and urban flooding.
In other news, the Mexican Grand Prix will provide a huge opportunity to home hero Sergio Perez for regaining the trust that Red Bull seem to be losing in him. Perez has undoubtedly failed in sizing up to his teammate Max Verstappen in terms of his score as the difference between them has now grown to 226 points. It remains to be seen if he can finally show off his speed at his home Grand Prix to remain in the coveted Red Bull seat that has Tsunoda, Ricciardo, and even Liam Lawson vying for it.
