Lewis Hamilton is one of the all-time F1 greats. The British driver has achieved extraordinary success in the sport over the years with a staggering seven world titles. However, things have been difficult for the 38-year-old recently, with Mercedes struggling with the ground-effect regulations. Now, Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg has slammed Hamilton’s behavior.
At the Austrian GP, a frustrated Lewis Hamilton had demanded the FIA penalize other drivers for track limit violations. Moreover, the 38-year-old had severely criticized the Mercedes W14 that, forced team boss Toto Wolff to stay focused on the race instead. Hulkenberg did not shy away from calling out the 7-time world champion.
The Haas driver was convinced that Hamilton had become like this after his championship success with Mercedes when he won six titles with the Silver Arrows. Nico Hulkenberg said, “Lewis is very fast on the radio and crying. He is very spoiled with success there [at Mercedes].” He was mentioning Hamilton’s radio drama at Austria.
The German driver believed that Toto Wolff had had enough of Hamilton’s attitude during the race. As such, the Mercedes Team Principal silenced the 7-time world champion on the team radio. He stated, “At some point there is a limit. Then the boss has to stand in front of the team and say: please do your job.”

Can Lewis Hamilton get his first race win since 2021
Lewis Hamilton last won a Grand Prix at Interlagos in 2021. Since then, the 7-time world champion has failed to stand on the top step of the podium despite his teammate George Russell winning the Brazilian GP last season. Hamilton has struggled to compete at the front of the grid with the Mercedes machinery in F1’s new era of ground-effect cars.
However, things have improved in recent rounds. Lewis Hamilton has clinched a couple of podium finishes this season as the Silver Arrows try to catch up with Red Bull. The Brackley-based team’s major sidepod upgrade in Monaco further improved its pace. However, there remains a lot of work to be done to see the team emerge victorious once again.
Thus, Nico Hulkenberg has called out Lewis Hamilton’s attitude in recent races. The German driver believed that Hamilton had been used to winning over the past few years and could not take his current results. The 7-time world champion has not responded to the Haas driver. Although fans would be looking forward to seeing the two drivers cross paths after these comments made by Hulkenberg.
