Nico Rosberg ready to plant his curse on Max Verstappen to break his winning streak in Singapore GP

Nico Rosberg has said only one thing can keep Max Verstappen from winning the Singapore GP in the upcoming weekend--and that is blind superstition.

Nico Rosberg ready to plant his curse on Max Verstappen to break his winning streak in Singapore GP

Former F1 Champion Nico Rosberg surpassed his teammate Lewis Hamilton in 2016, won the title, and retired in succession. But he has always remained close to the king class of motorsports as a pundit, a vlogger and an advisor. As he follows the sports closely, he is aware of the challenges that the upcoming Singapore GP is going to pose since it is touted as one of the toughest and most taxing tracks for the racers. But Nico think Max Verstappen might win with ease at Singapore too.

Red Bull racer Max Verstappen has seen only two defeats this season as he has won 12 out of the 14 Grands Prix that have been held till now. The 25-year-old has also broken the legendary four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel‘s record by winning ten consecutive Grands Prix this year. Speaking on the SkySports F1 podcast, Nico Rosberg said Max might win in Singapore too–unless he made use of his ‘bad luck selfies’.

It all started a couple of years ago when Nico Rosberg took a selfie with the Ferrari of the Monaco GP pole-sitter Charles Leclerc. But unfortunately, he later had to retire from his home race due to a technical difficulty. As similar events have also occured at other times in the past, McLaren did not want to take any risk at Spa this year–so they put up a sign that said, “No Rosberg selfies.” And this was a hilarious meme that went viral on the X media.

Having won back to back races ever since the Monaco Grand Prix, Max Verstappen is now well on his way towards securing a Formula 1 Championship hat-trick with an almost unrivalled run. But Nico Rosberg wants some diversification in the race results as the name of Max at the top is becoming more boring by the day. Hence, he said (as quoted by F1ingenerale), “Might it be a little too aggressive to take a photo with Max right before the race? It wouldn’t be nice, so I’ll do it anyway!” This only indicated that Nico feels Max Verstappen will win at the Singapore GP in any case, and the only thing that might stop him is the ‘Rosberg curse’.

On the other hand, Max Verstappen’s rival from 2021, Lewis Hamilton, has given positive opinions about the Mercedes W14 ahead of the race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. He said that Singapore will suit their car as it is a high downforce track. Meanwhile, Carlos Sainz has said that Ferrari still have hopes of capturing the second spot on the Championship Standings after his podium win at the Monza GP. With all the teams putting their utmost efforts on focusing on the last ten races of this season, it remains to be seen who come out at front after the Anu Dhabi finale.
