Red Bull is known for their competitive and result oriented environment and Nyck De Vries became yet another victim of the vicious programme. His points earning performance at Italian GP where he subbed for Alex Albon had gone on to make him the hottest prospect for a F1 seat amongst teams. In the end , he went on to sign with AlphaTauri. However, 10 races into the season, the decision has backfired.

Nyck De Vries was partnered up with Yuki Tsunoda at AlphaTauri. However, as the season started, it soon became clear that the Dutchman was not able to perform up to the mark. Having won the Formula E world championship, Christian Horner and Helmut Marko expected more from the Dutchman. His time with Red Bull didn’t last long as Red Bull replaced him with Daniel Ricciardo just 10 races into the season.

Nyck has since then gone on to resurface on social media and give his first public statement where he bashed the media for spreading false information. Some claims were very far fetched. “I received some interesting articles about things I’ve said in the last week,” said de Vries. “For clarity, I haven’t spoken to any media and for the time being I’ll enjoy some me time,” he stated.

With Max Verstappen and Nyck De Vries being friends, there was a connection as to how the former AlphaTauri driver signed with Red Bull. However, many media publications stated that Nyck had been promised a race seat alongside Max Verstappen at Red Bull in the 2025 F1 season. Some also said that he alluded to Lewis Hamilton’s 2021 championship defeat. Nyck has since gone on to deny all claims.

With Daniel Ricciardo replacing the Dutchman, a lot of pressure will be riding on the Aussie driver. After his contract with McLaren ended in 2022, it seemed like Ricciardo’s wishes of racing in Las Vegas were not going to come true. However, it seems like luck was with the Aussie racer as he shall now be able to race in sin city. It will be interesting to see the progress that he makes compared to Nyck De Vries in the AT-04 in the remaining 13 races of the season.
