The 2023 season has witnessed the return of Lewis Hamilton, his best mid-set on and off the track. If not for the W14 being slower than Max Verstappen’s RB19, the F1 would have been treated with another impressive title fight among the two. He is currently standing in 4th position with 148 points to his name.

Hamilton is behind his tough competitors Sergio Perez and Fernando Alonso with 189 and 149 points, respectively, while Max Verstappen is cruising to his third title at the top. The trio targets a P2 finish in the driver championship. According to Sky Sports F1 pundit Natalie Pinkham, Hamilton will triumph over the duo and finish behind Verstappen.

During the most recent episode of the Sky Sports F1 Podcast, the discussion revolved around the second-place contender of 2023. F1 analysts Pinkham, Damon Hill, and Blake Hinsey, who formerly served as Verstappen’s performance engineer. Pinkham pointed out that considering the development challenge that awaits Aston Martin and the inconsistency of Perez, Hamilton might steal the P2.

I’m going to say that Lewis Hamilton will finish runner-up because I fear Aston Martin’s decent run of form is over. Whether it is to do with this flexi-wing being outruled or they have just gone down a bit of a cul-de-sac in terms of development and it’s been exaggerated by the fact that others have done well, like McLaren,” Pinkham said in the Sky F1 podcast.

Red Bull have won every race this season. Initially, Sergio Perez won two out of the first four races. However, he then faced a tough period where he didn’t perform well, including five races in a row where he failed to reach the third qualifying round.

Verstappen’s former performance engineer, Hinsey, believes that Perez should come second. He backed his argument by pointing at the Red Bull challengers’ performance and his lead over Hamilton and Alonso during the past race events.

I see Natalie’s point as well, but I think Perez will finish runner-up. He had this little slump in form last year after the summer break and then came back towards the end of the season, and he was fighting,” Hinsey said.
