“Few bits and pieces to improve, just like everywhere else,” Romain Grosjean disregards Max Verstappen’s complaints against Virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans
Only a few days ago, Max Verstappen participated in the virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans and this pumped up the fans’ excitement about the online race by a massive degree. During the course of the contest, the two-time World Champion was leading the pack as he displayed a brilliant pace, but unfortunately, his server got disconnected and he was thrown out of the game. When Max Verstappen came back on, he tried to regain his position but at that point, he was too far behind. Thus, Team Redline decided to withdraw Max as there was no chance of him improving his rank and the Dutchman’s virtual outing came to an end.
Post the race, Max was furious with the fact that his run was compromised because of something as trivial as a technical glitch. It is a known fact that Max Verstappen is one of the most competitive drivers in F1, and he simply could not accept that his first contest since the end of the 2022 Abu Dhabi GP ended due to poor internet connection. Thus, the Red Bull champ took to his Twitch and Discord platforms to reveal his thoughts on the Virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans, and his words were not at all kind.
Max Verstappen called the virtual race a “clown show” and vowed to never participate again. The race, which ran on the rFactor 2 platform that is owned by the developing company Motorsport Games, also saw Romain Grosjean as one of the participants. Grosjean is an ambassador of Motorsport Games, and his opinions on the race were vastly different from how Max described it. He completely disregarded the 25-year-old’s comments and acknowledged that the race requires some improvements, just like any other game does.

Romain Grosjean won his GTE class at the Virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans race
While the Virtual 24 Hours of Le Mans turned out to be a nightmare for Max Verstappen, Romain Grosjean was quite content with it. The former Haas racer did finish his run, and even got the win in his GTE class with the TEAM R8G. Then, he posted on social media, “Le Mans Virtual is over and I had a lot of fun. Sim racing is super competitive and seeing one of the biggest race in the world being done on sim is awesome. Yes, few bits and pieces to improve, but isn’t that just like everywhere else?“
Max Verstappen and Team Redline both walked out of the virtual race when it was clear there would be no gaining back Max’s lead when the Dutchman joined post his server disconnection. It was later revealed that Max encountered those issues because of a security breach which plagued the game and spoiled the experiences of many of the participants. The fans can only hope that the next year will see rFactor 2 give more focus on the security issues so that the virtual race can be held without any such problems.
