“Sign that kid into a design development internship!”: McLaren fans react to 14-year-old Beckett Raftus leaving everyone awestruck with his creation

Going into the United States GP, McLaren is currently at the fifth position in the World Constructors’ Championship standings, after losing out the battle for the fourth place to Alpine as the French team has gotten 13 points more than them. But three races are still left and both the racers at the papaya team have vowed to try their best to score as many points as they can to improve their position in the scoring table.
Amidst the buildup for the upcoming United States GP, Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo got a cute surprise as a kid showed them his fantastic creation in the form of a cardboard replica of the McLaren racecar. Being the second oldest F1 team that is still active in the sport, McLaren enjoys a huge fanbase, and the 14-year-old boy, Beckett Raftus, who went to The McLaren garage to show the team members his special gift, said that he has been following the British team for a long time.
Thanks to the dynamic pairing of Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo, both of whom are absolute media-sweethearts, Mclaren always get a massive coverage at the Grand s Prix during the press interviews. Thus, it has led to them getting a huge fan following, and very often, they are showered with gifts from the fans. In fact, only a few weeks ago, they received a collection of artwork from their followers which they posted about on social media, and now their fans have exceeded their imagination by making a detailed cardboard model of their car.

At only 14 years of age, Beckett Raftus managed to wow everyone at the McLaren warehouse by shaping cardboard into their F1 racecar. According to the Twitter post by the team showing Raftus meeting with the members at their garage, the cardboard racecar took him “8 months and over 200 hours to build“.
In the video shared by McLaren F1, an awestruck Lando Norris is seen asking Beckett, “How do you come up with shapes like these?” And Daniel Ricciardo commented on the young boy’s creation with a surprised “that’s so cool!”

In other news, McLaren has a huge challenge ahead of them, and that is–to surpass Alpine in the rankings, so that they can end their year on a high with a fourth place finish in the Constructors’ Championship. Now, it remains to be seen how Zac Brown’s team manages to bag that position with a blasting performance in the upcoming United States GP.
