“Still 51 points behind,” Charles Leclerc imposes authority over Carlos Sainz following his commanding lead over the Spaniard
Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz
The battle between Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz might have just started but it might be soon over if what we have seen in the first few races continues for the first few races. Charles Leclerc has been head and shoulders above his team mate and the scoreboard is somewhat a reflection of that.
The one thing that needs to be into consideration has to be the fact that Carlos Sainz was unlucky at the Australian GP which did cost him a handful of points. Despite that, Charles Leclerc has had that cutting edge which his team mate has lacked. The Monegasque driver has looked in his element and the only driver which has given him a run for his money has to be Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.
Carlos Sainz had a wonderful opportunity in Miami to one up Charles Leclerc but, unfortunately, he just didn’t have the pace to keep up with him. The Spaniard was outqualified and outperformed during the race yet again. It’s important for Mattia Binotto that the points gap between the drivers is as less as possible keeping in mind how good Charles Leclerc has been for the Italian Giants.
Charles Leclerc has made Carlos Sainz looked pretty average in the early part of the season
The Spaniard who has just signed a new contract with Ferrari was happy with his performance but was not completely satisfied with the result as he was yet again beaten by both Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc.
He, after the race, said, “Obviously, I’m coming back from a pretty heavy crash on Friday. So, I wasn’t feeling 100 percent today, but maybe also the fact that I haven’t done the last two races. So also, the neck feels that.”
“And it’s a combination of those two things that maybe I was paying a bit the price and at some stages of the race I couldn’t push 100 percent.”
“It’s not so much a relief – but it’s needed. I think I needed to complete a race distance, to get the body back to shape, and also get the feel for the car on used tyres, high fuel,” as reported by Formula1.
Carlos Sainz has been decent for Ferrari but the performances are not in consonance with the plans of being a constructor’s championship as Max Verstappen’s Red Bull is charging them down.
