“Such a young female audience following F1 now!,” Christian Horner commends the starts of the F1 Academy
A few days ago, an explosive announcement revealed that the FIA will be starting an F1 Academy, dedicated to all the female racing enthusiasts. This all-new initiative will be an all-female series that will nurture the racing abilities of all the young drivers of the fairer sex. As per the reports on the F1 Academy, it will empower the young women to take part in higher levels of racing leagues so as to ensure more female participation in all the competitions of the motorsports world.
Now, Christian Horner, Team Principal to Red Bull, Formula 1’s number 1 team as of this moment, has given his full support behind the initiative to start the F1 Academy. The Briton had many encouraging words to share on the topic as he expressed his hopes that the Academy will be able to amp up female participation in motorsports.
For the smooth advancement of the project, F1 has reportedly allocated a budget of €2.25m. The races under the F1 Academy will begin as soon as in this year, and the cars will be seen sporting a Tatuus T421 chassis. The league will have five teams to begin with, and all these teams will be helmed by the executives who currently rum some F2 and F3 outfits. Each team will be allowed to enter three cars on the grid, so that the final formation consists of 15 cars.

Christian Horner believes F1 has come a long way in terms of female participation
When Red Bull F1 Team Principal Christian Horner was approached for his take on the all-new F1 Academy initiative, he seemed all in. Commenting on the investment, he said, “I think it’s a good thing for F1 to be getting involved in. It’s great to see more and more women coming into the sport and at all levels, as a driver, a designer… we see more women up and down the paddock now, in technical functions, operational roles. I think it’s all about inclusiveness, and I think it’s great.”
He also said, “I think that there’s such interest from youngsters as well, with such a young female [audience] that are following Formula 1 now.“
Not only Horner, but the Team Principal at Mercedes, Red Bull’s rival team, also supported the mission of the F1 Academy and said it is a good thing that such initiatives are being taken to promote women in motorsports nowadays. Former Mercedes racer Nico Rosberg had also announced a similar initiative for women upliftment in racing where he himself offered mentorship to the deserving candidates. These projects help fans establish the belief that newer steps are being taken everyday to make motorsports a more inclusive affair.
