The United States Grand Prix is always a highly anticipated event and the 2022 race did not fail to disappoint, with a first-lap incident, multiple safety cars, a red flag, and great wheel-to-wheel battles. The race was a true marvel for the fans. Max Verstappen‘s 33rd F1 victory officially sealed the 2022 Constructors’ World Championship for the team, a fitting tribute to the demise of Red Bull co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz.
The drama started from Turn 1 itself as George Russell collided with Carlos Sainz, forcing the Ferrari to retire. An early retirement for Valtteri Bottas led to the first safety car of the race which provided a free pitstop to the likes of Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel. A massive collision between Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll resulted in the retirement of the Canadian after a promising start in the race. After a poor pitstop by Red Bull, Max Verstappen lost his position to Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc.
This led us to witness an intense battle between the Verstappen and Leclerc which was a true joy to watch. Vettel did a great recovery drive to P8 after a last-lap overtake on Haas’s Kevin Magnussen. The fight for the win then was then between the 2021 arch rivals, Hamilton and Verstappen and as the chequered flag was waved, it was The Dutchman who came out victorious securing the win and the Constructors’ Title for his team.
