“The sport can change so quickly”: Daniel Ricciardo gives Sergio Perez’s example to prove that he can turn his career around

Formula 1 2022 has seen some utterly disappointing results from Daniel Ricciardo, who is currently in his second season as a McLaren racer. The Australian made the move to join the Woking-based outfit after resigning from Renault at the end of 2020 in order to look for better career prospects. But the switch to McLaren never suited the Honey Badger, and now his future in F1 hangs by the balance as the British team has all but confirmed that it will look to prematurely terminate its contract with Daniel, so that it can sign Oscar Piastri as their new recruit.

While the British team is looking for ways to severe ties with Ricciardo, the Australian has got some limited time to look for a seat at some other team, or else he will be out of F1 2023 completely. At such a position in his career where his stay in Formula 1 is uncertain, Daniel Ricciardo still refuses to get his high spirits down as he said there are ways to turn around and do much better from this points onwards.

The Australian gave the example of Sergio Perez, who was almost in the last leg of his F1 career at the end of the 2020 season, with no contract deals waiting for him. But then Red Bull decided to give Perez a chance to drive beside Max Verstappen, and the Spaniard excelled at his job. So, they extended hi contract and now Perez has got his second Grand Prix victory with Red Bull, and is in the top 5 in the WDC Standings.

Daniel Ricciardo had reassured his fans time and again that the Honey Badger would be back with McLaren for their 2023 campaign, but then the British team indicated their desire to sign F2 Champion Oscar Piastri for the seat beside Lando Norris. With that, Daniel’s career now looks quite bleak but the Australian said, “You also take like little things from if it’s a Perez, when his career looked over, and now he’s potentially fighting for a world championship. The sport can change so quickly.”

Thus, in Daniel Ricciardo’s opinion, he can turn the table around and improve himself to get to a much better point than how his career is looking right now. And his fans can only hope that the Honey Badger is right about this, so that they can soon find him fighting for a place in the top 5 in the grid once again.
