“They dream to see Max in a Ferrari”: Italian F1 news correspondent debunks the myth that the Tifosi hate Max Verstappen

After a few seasons of disappointing performances, Scuderia Ferrari, one of the oldest and most successful teams in F1, have found themselves back at the topmost place that they have always deserved. While the Tifosi were upset with the Italian team’s records in the previous years, Ferrari has come back stronger than ever in this new season of F1 2022 Championship where the FIA have introduced many rule changes to bring the competition closer than it was before.

To start off the season with a blast, Ferrari came up with the almost-perfect SF-75, one of the best cars on the grid right now. While all the rival teams have been facing problems with the new configurations in their race cars, Ferrari was successful in developing one of the most reliable and fastest cars in this season. Seeing the SF-75’s performance on the tracks, many of the F1 pundits have called it as the car to watch out for in this year of F1.

Now that we are already six races into the 2022 F1 season and we have seen Ferrari maintain their lead at the top of both the Drivers’ as well as the Constructors’ Championship table till the Spanish Grand Prix, it goes without saying that the Maranello outfit is back in the game. Flavio Vanetti, F1 correspondent for the Italian news outlet Corriere della Sera, talked about the Tifosis’ perspective on Ferrari’s success in this season.

In the current season, the two main drivers to watch out for are Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc. While Charles is a Ferrari racer who signed with the team in 2019, Verstappen joined Red Bull Racing in 2017, and he has performed phenomenally in the Milton-Keynnes-based team. But if the Tifosi had their way, they would like to see the Dutchman in Ferrari very soon.

Speaking from the point of view of the Italian fans, Flavio Vanetti said, “Of course they [the fans in Italy] dream to see Max in a Ferrari.”

This comes as a surprise to the rest of the world who thought that, since Max Verstappen just took over the lead of the WDC Standings from Ferrari racer Charles Leclerc, all the Italian fans might detest the Dutchman. In reality, it seems that the Tifosi are in awe of Max Verstappen’s talent, and would like to welcome him into their home F1 team for a successful partnership with Charles Leclerc.
