‘They must have been on drugs’: Max Verstappen laments his race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase’s F1 Manager rating

Max Verstappen and Gianpiero Lambiase

Max Verstappen is currently the best driver bar none in Formula 1. He’s taken 10 victories already this season, and has a chance for many more, and to potentially break Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher’s joint record of 13 wins as well. A lot of that is also down to the great work done at Red Bull, which includes his race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase.

Verstappen has only good things to say about the Italian. Last year in a conversation with Formula 1 magazine (as per GPFans), Verstappen had said: “We get along very well and know exactly what we want from each other, which way we want to go. GP (Lambiase) is very passionate, driven and wants to win. I think that is very important: you must not only be driven to want to be in Formula 1 but also enjoy being here.”

Towards the end of the video, Verstappen says Lambiase’s rating should be close to 90 now.

Recently, the highly anticipated release of F1 Manager took place. The game allows you to put yourself in the feet of a team principal, and lead your team to glory. Max Verstappen likes the game, but he has one issue with it: Lambiase’s rating is far too low.

Aside from his exploits on the track, Verstappen also plays video games to relax. It seems he’s also taken a liking to F1 Manager and has shown some interest in it. But as stated before, he believes that the game does have some shortcomings, such as his race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase‘s rating being far too low.

The best-rated engineers in the game are the Mercedes duo, Peter Bonnington (for Lewis Hamilton) and Riccardo Musconi (for George Russell). He’s already said this to Lambiase following the Dutch Grand Prix, where he said that his rating should be higher. And now he’s repeated that for the public.

As per GPBlog, Verstappen joked about the rating: “I play with myself, so actually I am Christian Horner. The rating of GP Lambiase (race engineer) is idiotically low. Someone who was on drugs probably came up with that. I need to talk to those people about that first.”

Max Verstappen, for his part, is the highest-rated driver in the game, something he shares with Lewis Hamilton. They are both at a ’90’ rating, followed by Charles Leclerc with a 88.
