The Mercedes Formula 1 team has not been able to challenge for the world championship since 2021. Under the current set of regulations, they have struggled massively to develop a potent car but despite this fact, its team principal, Toto Wolff has admitted that he wants his team to fight for the title in the upcoming years.

Toto Wolff firmly believes that if the personnel at Mercedes can get everything right, then Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will have no problem becoming a nuisance for Max Verstappen and Co. 2020 was the last year when Mercedes was able to sit on top of the F1 pedestal.

The numbers that we are seeing are strong. Us, Ferrari, and all the other teams have to do a better job to compete with Red Bull and if we can't change anything, then people are going to say [before the race]: 'Well I know the result. It happened to us with Lewis many years ago, but you've just got to do a better job. I don't want to wait until 2026.

Toto Wolff needs to rally his troops to the best of his ability

While Toto Wolff has tried his best to ooze a bit of optimism ahead of the 2024 F1 season, being the lead figure at Mercedes, he needs to put all his effort into showing the people at Mercedes that he is fully with them and is going to support them in every possible way with their work.
