Lewis Hamilton has a very eventful outing in an otherwise boring Italian GP. He was involved in several tussles during the race, and for his antics against Oscar Piastri on lap 41, he was given a 5-second time penalty. Hamilton, to the surprise of many, did not complain about it, and for this, the Mercedes Team Principal, Toto Wolff, has applauded him.

Hamilton, after the race, even went up to Oscar Piastri and apologized to him for causing an unnecessary collision. Toto Wolff is not at all surprised by the actions of his driver and has claimed that Hamilton is the only driver at the pinnacle of motor racing who does not complain.

While shedding light on the same in detail, the Austrian said, as reported by Formul1a.uno, “He’s very sportsmanlike with these things. He is the only one I see out there admitting and saying: ‘I got this wrong’. That kind of sportsmanship is what you need to admire with him. Pretty much everyone is always complaining and moaning, just to try not to get a penalty/”

Looking at the comments of Wolff, it is quite clear that he is very pleased with how Lewis Hamilton can carry himself during difficult situations. He ardently believes that the 38-year-old is like an example to the young crop of F1 drivers as to how to deal with tough and challenging situations.

While Toto Wolff has left no stone unturned in applauding Lewis Hamilton for his actions at the Monza F1 circuit, the Mercedes F1 team as a whole pretty much maximized their race weekend. The Brackley-based team was the third-fastest outfit at the track, and George Russell and Lewis Hamilton did exceptionally well to come away with a P5 and P6 finish for the team.

Both the drivers executed their race brilliantly and scored solid points for the team that has kept Mercedes ahead of the lights of Ferrari and Aston Martin in the 2023 Constructors Championship. There are not several races left in the season, and the German team is determined to end their campaign in second place.

However, it is not going to be like a walk in the park for the Toto Wolff-led team. The Ferrari F1 team clearly had Mercedes’s number at the Monza F1 circuit and if they are able to repeat their form in Singapore, Toto Wolff and Co. could come under serious pressure in the upcoming Grand Prix events.
