Toto Wolff hilariously offers Helmut Marko a Mercedes ‘mascot’ role amidst Red Bull suspension rumors

Toto Wolff and Christian Horner

Toto Wolff, the Mercedes team principal, has a well-known reputation for coming up with legendary one-liners. From his infamous ‘No Mikey No!! to him smashing his headset during Grand Prix events, he has quite a reputation in the sport.

With Red Bull’s Helmut Marko currently under investigation for alleged social media leaks, Toto Wolff has cheekily offered the former a mascot role at Mercedes. Marko could be suspended by the Austrian team from the upcoming Monday onward.

Wolff while shedding light on Marko’s current situation during an interview with Motorsport-Total, said,

We're missing our old mascot anyway. Then we'll just use Helmut. He's the right age. He doesn't have a red cap, but then he'll join us. If the team loses Helmut, it will certainly be a loss for Red Bull and for the team.

Toto Wolff’s message for Helmut Marko is certainly not going to sit well with the latter. Especially considering, the kind of personality the 80-year-old is during Grand Prix weekends within the paddock. Marko is quite famous among the F1 community for his brutal/no-filter opinions.

Toto Wolff will expect a productive outing from his drivers during the Saudi Arabian GP

While Toto Wolff has been having fun around the state of things at Red Bull, his Mercedes outfit has not got off to the best of starts during the ongoing 2024 F1 season. Bahrain did not prove very productive for the team but Wolff and Co. will expect a positive result during the upcoming Saudi Arabian GP.

George Russell and Lewis Hamilton are slated to start their outing from P6 and P7 respectively and considering this, they are in a good position to make a solid impression during the race. However, whether they would be able to do it or not will depend on the performance output of the Mercedes W15.

Lewis Hamilton, in particular, has not been happy with the car during the ongoing weekend and has complained about rear-balance issues. Russell, on the other hand, has looked quite comfortable behind its wheel. Keeping in view everything that has been discussed, Toto Wolff would ideally be looking for a top six finish from both his drivers during the 2024 Saudi Arabian GP.
