“Verstappen not trying tax,” Fans react as Carlos Sainz grabs a shock pole position at the 2022 US Grand Prix edging out Max Verstappen
Carlos Sainz
Carlos Sainz and Ferrari left everyone with their jaws dropped after a dramatic end to the 2022 US grand prix qualifying session which ended the Spaniard finishing first. Meanwhile teammate Charles Leclerc finished behind him in second place. Although a change of engine parts led to the Ferrari driver being given a 10 place grid penalty for Sunday’s race. This promotes Max Verstappen to the front row of the grid.
During last year’s race at COTA, Lewis Hamilton started second and managed to go down the inside of Max Verstappen as the pair tackled turn on. 2nd place on the grid seems like a good place to start the race. Meanwhile, Red Bull Racing has been in mourning ever since the announcement of Dietrich Mateschitz’s death hit the F1 paddock. Carlos Sainz on the other hand will be having a completely different set of emotions.
Pole number 3 it is for Carlos as he glided through to become today’s winner. At a time where the team needed him to deliver, the Spaniard took this opportunity to show his worth and it worked out pretty well for him. Mercedes on the other hand looked like they had the means for pole today. Sadly they weren’t able to convert their performance into results. Here is how Twitter reacted to the session results.
