The Japanese GP is one of the most iconic rounds on the F1 calendar. Races at Suzuka are riddled with incidents, with the latest iteration not being any different. This time, however, it was Red Bull’s Sergio Perez who squeezed out Lewis Hamilton in the early phases of the race. Although, both drivers managed to get away with the incident without major damage.
Hamilton had a good start when the five red lights went out at the Japanese GP. The British driver tried to make some places heading into Turn 1. The Mercedes driver went alongside Sergio Perez with the two Ferraris of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc not being far off. As such, this got four cars going wheel-to-wheel at Turn 1.
Unfortunately, things did not turn out well for Hamilton and Perez. The Mexican driver made contact with the Mercedes and pushed him off onto the grass. Luckily, Lewis Hamilton kept it clean and got back onto the circuit. The seven-time world champion told his race engineer, “Perez has hit me. Dammit.” On the other hand, Checo made a pit stop to change his front wing after breaking his endplate with this incident.

Fans not happy with Sergio Perez after incident with Lewis Hamilton
Fans on Twitter called out the Mexican driver for this clash. One user wanted Perez completely out of racing after making contact with Hamilton at Suzuka. The user wrote, “I hope that clown Perez never races again. Is he blind or what.” Another fan reckoned that the Red Bull driver will be forced out of the sport soon. The fan said, “Perez got a shit launch so he forced Lewis wide. He’s gonna be out the sport soon.”
One fan believed Sergio Perez must be penalized for this maneuver as the Mexican driver forced Hamilton out of the track entirely. The fan commented, “Perez should get a penalty.” On the other hand, another user insisted that this might have been a racing incident, considering the lack of room for all cars. The user stated, “Even if there was no such thing as a racing incident I would’ve said that’s a racing incident.”

Sergio Perez failed to keep it clean at the start of the Japanese GP. The Mexican driver was forced to pit after the incident with Lewis Hamilton. However, the 33-year-old was already set on having a tough drive.
