The Brazilian GP Qualifying turned out to be an exciting funfest for the audience. As their favorite racers took to the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace amidst the torrential weather, the gusts of wind turned even worse. Amongst the teams, it was a battle of tire strategies and risk-taking mentalities as their drivers were all vying for the pole position. In the end, reigning World Champion Max Verstappen grabbed the coveted spot as he secured a front row start to the Main Race on Sunday.

But the terrible weather did not seem to be all that exciting as the winds were tearing away at the F1 grandstands. At one point in time, the windspeed reached a baffling 104 kmph (recorded at the airport, according to former F1 meteorologist Steffen Dietz). This led to considerable damage to the structures that were erected for the impending Sao Paulo GP. The roof of the grandstand at the last corner of the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace Circuit collapsed and some of the audience captured a bone-chilling video of the incident.

One of the people in the audience who were present at the grandstand in question took to his social media handle. He described the plight he faced during the horrifying situation which unfolded after the Brazilian GP Quali was over.

What a scary 10 mins, nearly got decapitated by a collapsing tent. Grandstand collapsed at the last corner…

As of now, there are no official records of the people who got injured due to the grandstand roof collapse. Many of the fans have wished their best to the people who were present when the horror unfolded and prayed that there is noone who suffered any major injuries.

Max Verstappen labels the weather at the Brazilian GP Qualifying Session as ‘insane’

Thanks to the superb planning of the Red Bull strategists and Max Verstappen’s talented maneuvers with his RB-19, the Dutchman secured pole position at the Brazilian GP Qualifying. But once he was interviewed after the session, he commented on the way the weather worsened, as reported by RacingNews365.

This is insane weather. Charles and I were just discussing our laps, they felt terrible. I think the wind started to change and started to be very strong and we lost a lot of lap time because of it. But it was quite hectic in the last lap.

On the other hand, Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll made full use of the weather conditions and gave his best Qualifying performance in 2023. He outqualified his teammate Fernando Alonso for the first time and also pulled up ahead of the two Mercedes. But Sergio Perez’s results were quite unimpressive as he could only finish in the ninth spot, way down the line from his teammate who got the pole.
