Ever since the FIA had dropped the new technical directive which called for some alterations in the rules in order to reduce porpoising, the topic has been heavily debated by F1 racers and fans alike, and even the team executives have joined the conversation to put forward their opinions. Many of the F1 personnel have felt that the directive, which was made public ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix, is being too partial to teams like Mercedes who never found a solution to combat porpoising, and had been complaining against it since day one in this Championship.

Now, Red Bull Boss Christian Horner has always been one of the most opinionated persons in the F1 paddock and he is not happy with how the FIA have handled the porpoising issue. He has raised concerns against the FIA going too far to make rule changes in the middle of the season as the Briton believes this fickle-mindedness from F1’s highest authority is going to affect the image of integrity that this sport has created for itself.

When the F1 circus had arrived at Spa-Francorchamps a few months ago, hte FIA had given out the new technical directive that is still causing controversies even now. Notwithstanding the countless concerns that were raised regarding the directive, it still came into force, and curbed the effects of porpoising to a great extent. Not just that, the FIA have also hinted at formulating some new rules for next year’s Formula 1 Championship.

Speaking of the many changes that the FIA are planning to bring into Formula 1 in the near future, Christian Horner warily said, “I think what we just need to be careful of is if we overshoot here and we don’t have a big regulation change this late in the year.”

He also said, “It will be hugely costly for next year.” Christian Horner remains adamant about the fact that the new directive that the FIA came out with has given somewhat of an advantage to a few teams who could not get a solution for porpoising while it has had no consequences on teams like Red Bull who devised an actual way to control porpoising on their cars.
