Max Verstappen did not have the smoothest Friday session of the upcoming Bahrain GP. Moreover, he has admitted that Red Bull has got some things to sort out ahead of qualifying. Max Verstappen ended the FP1 session in third place, and during FP2, he came up short against the former two-time F1 World Champion, Fernando Alonso.

Things are not looking as rosy as everyone expected of Verstappen, while sharing his thoughts after the practice, he added, “The long run was not bad, as was the last fast lap. We still have some work to do, but we improved during the day.”

The reigning World Champion, despite having a mixed day, is not too worried. He feels, Red Bull has to make a few changes to his car so that he would be able to challenge for P1 during qualifying.

Since starting pre-season testing, Fernando Alonso has looked insanely competitive in the Aston Martin livery. He again proved it during the FP1 and FP2 sessions of the Bahrain GP. While Alonso has looked at the top of his game so far, Verstappen, on the other hand, hasn’t been at his absolute best and has not put in the fast laps that everyone expects of him.

In FP1, Verstappen managed a time of 1.33.375, which was only good enough for P3, whereas, in FP2, he was only able to move up to second place with a time of 1.31.907. However, despite a mixed start to the first Grand Prix event of the season, no one can count out Max Verstappen. He is the reigning World Champion for a reason and would definitely turn up for the pole position fight tomorrow.

The battle among the Two times F1 World champions will be something special for the fans. They will expect Lewis Hamilton, the remaining active championship-winning driver, to join the party. Verstappe’s teammate Sergio Perez is determined to stop playing the No:2 driver role, and the Ferrari duo of Carlos Saniz and Charles Leclerc are also contenders in the season opener.
