“We will give everything and do our best”: Lewis Hamilton hopes for better result in Miami with new rear wing update

Lewis Hamilton
For seven-times World Champion Lewis Hamilton, the terrible result at the Imola Grand Prix was disheartening, to say the least. The F1 veteran, who has had an amazing winning streak during the turbo-hybrid era of F1, is regarded as one of the best Formula 1 racers in the history of this sport. Yet, his poor performance in the first four races of the new 2022 season of Formula 1 has shocked his fans.
Although Hamilton did manage to make the best out of his situation and score a podium finish at the season opener in Bahrain, his fans had never imagined the #44 would have to struggle so much to get into the top 10 in the Imola Grand Prix.

Throughout the weekend of the Imola race, Hamilton had a series of misfortunes as he got out in Q2 and could not even make it to top 10 in Qualifying, then he failed to score points in the Sprint Race, and finally, his pace was so off the mark in the Main Race, that his rival in the previous Championship battle of 2021–Max Verstappen–lapped him. Despite all this, Hamilton has stayed focused on his goal to perform better in the upcoming races and in Miami, he hopes he will score some points after Mercedes introduced a new rear wing for their W13.

While Italy was a race that Mercedes wanted to “write off”, and Toto Wolff even took the responsibility on himself for Lewis’ poor race pace, the Stuttgart team might be making a comeback in Miami. They have experimented with their car to fix the issues with race pace, Qualifying pace, and the problem of ‘porpoising’. Now, they have introduced a new rear wing for their Miami run, to check how the improved car fares in the Miami Grand Prix.
Speaking about what the fans of Mercedes should expect from the team’s performance in Miami, Lewis Hamilton said, “You can expect that we will give everything and do our best.”
Hamilton did mention about the new rear wing upgrades made to his car and George Russell’s, but the former World Champion knows their performance would not improve to a great extent overnight. He said, “As you can see, we have a new rear wing.”
He was asked if they would be able to narrow the gap between Mercedes and other prominent teams who are fighting for the Constructors’ Championship like Red Bull and Ferrari with their newly improved car. For this, Lewis Hamilton said, “I’m not going to anticipate on that.”
