As the Formula 1 2022 Standings appear as of now, there is a huge gap of 36 whopping points between Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Ferrari. While Ferrari came up in the initial races of the season as one of the most formidable teams this year, Red Bull were still struggling at the time with their myriads of reliability problems. But then the Milton-Keynnes-based team turned the tables, and usurped Ferrari to take the lead of the Constructors’ Championship table.

In a similar fashion, reigning World Champion Max Verstappen started off this year with an upsetting retirement from the season opener in Bahrain. The Dutchman was 46 points behind the then Championship leader Charles Leclerc, but he closed the gap between him and the Monegasque to retake the lead of the WDC table this year.

The surprising turn that the Championship seems to have taken, by shifting from Scuderia Ferrari and Charles Leclerc to Red Bull and Max Verstappen, has made many of the Tifosi upset. On more than one instances, Charles Leclerc has lost out on his lead even though he qualified first on the Saturday before the race. Thus, going into the Bahrain Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc has no choice but to go all in to seize a race win for the third time in 2022.

Charles Leclerc has made many mistakes which, the F1 pundits have said, are not at all befitting a potential World Champion. The Monegasque has qualified in the first spot in five of the seven races that have happened till now, but he could not convert them all to race wins. He has got only two Grand Prix victories at this point.

Speaking on the upcoming Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc talks about how the Red Bull RB-18 has better top-speed in the straights while Ferrari has better cornering speed. In a track like Baku where there are extensive straights, the RB-18 has an advantage over Ferrari’s F1-75.

Charles Leclerc said, “We will lack a bit of straight-line speed in Baku compared to Red Bull, so we have to see where we go with the setup.

We have a more competitive car than last year and I hope to keep first place if we take pole on Saturday.”
