Carlos Sainz managed to finish a brilliant race being on the top of the podium for the first time in his career. He stood ahead of Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton, Carlos needs to thank Leclerc for the gap he allowed the Spaniard to create that later proved as a victory margin.

“It was not easy, I struggled quite a bit with the balance especially on the first stint on the mediums. Max forced us to push a lot through the high speed. I opened the front left. Even with all of that I stayed believing that it could still happen. Then all of a sudden he safety car gave me an opportunity to get back in it. You can imagine the nerves at the start, getting it down and then the win,” Sainz concluded.
