Red Bull has found itself in deep waters ever since FIA released its Financial Regulations report, and while things are at a pause between the two bodies because of the death of Dietrich Mateschitz, many people in the F1 paddock have been asking for the governing body to come up with strict punishment for the Milton-Keynes-based team.

However, despite people asking for strict actions, no one is quite sure what kind of punishment can be imposed on Red Bull for its 2021 breach.

The FIA has come under the spotlight because of the Red Bull saga and while many have been pointing fingers at the governing body for its delayed response, Guenther Steiner feels that a lot needs to change regarding the rules around penalties.

While stressing on the same, Steiner said, “This is like going below the minimum weight or using too much fuel. We ourselves were excluded from a race because of a technical violation of three millimeters that didn’t even benefit us.

But for all those things there is a penalty attached. There is no rule that says if you cheat you will be disqualified. So there you need to find the right penalty for that.”

The Italian-American has made it crystal clear that he wants a revamp in the FIA’s rules and has urged the body to make necessary changes so that appropriate penalties are in place for all future happenings.

The 2022 F1 season has got three races left on the calendar and considering the uproar that Red Bull’s budget cap breach has caused in the F1 paddock, would the FIA be able to come up with punishments before the culmination of the current campaign?
