Hosting a Formula 1 Grand Prix is an expensive affair, but at the same time, it yields millions of bucks of profit for the circuit where the races are held. Zandvoort has been immensely helped by the huge influx of cash, thanks to the Dutch GP in 2021. According to the Breda University, just last year’s Grand Prix in Zandvoort had provided an added economic value of 8.9 million euros. Hence, considering the economic side of things, the Zandvoort circuit director is interested in continuing to host the Dutch GP.

According to the circuit director Robert Van Overdijk, “That is certainly not an ABC’s. We are not there yet with just the sale of tickets. We are 100 percent a privately funded event, so we also need the support of sponsors. In addition, the municipality of Zandvoort is the only government party that has been positive from day one. It is obviously important to us that this remains the case. All those talks have already started. We should also not forget that we have only organized the event once.

He also said, “If it is up to Formula 1, we will immediately sign a new contract.”
