Max Verstappen had a controversial weekend at the Singapore GP. The Dutch driver was penalized for violating the newly-introduced swear ban by the FIA. Verstappen did not hold back his feelings throughout the weekend. Now, 2016 F1 champion Nico Rosberg reckoned that the Red Bull driver should not spend so much of his energy on this issue.
The reigning world champion refused to give any detailed responses in FIA’s press conference following the penalty. Verstappen even hinted that he could quit the sport if this continued. Additionally, Lewis Hamilton even came out in support of Max Verstappen and criticized the FIA.
Nico Rosberg claimed that if he was in Verstappen’s position, where the Dutch driver is in an intense title fight with Lando Norris, he would not spend his energy on this topic. The German reckoned that the Red Bull star could get distracted from the title fight if he continued focusing on this ban.
Nico Rosberg predicts Max Verstappen’s winless run to continue
Max Verstappen has failed to win a race for eight races in a row this season. Red Bull has continued to struggle to match McLaren. Nico Rosberg suggested that it is unlikely that Verstappen could end this win drought in the coming races. Rather, the German claimed that Lando Norris might win all of the last six races.
Certainly, Max Verstappen and Red Bull need to bounce back in the coming races. The Dutch driver still leads by 52 points, giving him the upper hand against Norris. However, things could get out of hand for Verstappen if he does not perform consistently in the coming races.
