While Oscar Piastri has one of his eyes set on the bigger world championship picture, he is fully focused on the task at hand around the Autodromo Nazionale Monza circuit. The 23-year-old ended his Friday running with a pretty solid fourth place in Free Practice 2.
Keeping in view the overall happenings on track, Piastri feels everyone is in for an interesting Italian GP.
We had a decent Friday, I think the pace looks pretty solid. It’s going to be very difficult on the tyres for everybody, so we’ll work hard to make sure we’re ready to maximize our performance, and we’ll see what happens on race day. I think it’s going to be a pretty interesting race compared to what we might normally have in Monza.Oscar Piastri via McLaren
The McLaren F1 team currently has the fastest car on the 2024 grid. Red Bull is facing its struggles at the moment, and after Friday’s running, Mercedes and Ferrari are looking extremely strong.
Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton topped the timing charts with a blistering lap of 1:20:738 in FP2 and George Russell was also in P6 despite not having many laps around the revamped Monza. Taking into consideration everything that has been discussed, today’s qualifying session will be vitally important for Piastri and Norris.
