The announcement of Lewis Hamilton joining Ferrari broke the internet in 2024. With the move becoming a reality this year, the Briton and Charles Leclerc would be hoping to end the Scuderia’s title drought. This includes F1 pundit Lawrence Barretto, who is on the Ferrari hype train and backs the pair to bring championship glory to Maranello.
Ferrari is the most successful constructor in the history of F1. With 16 constructors’ championships and 15 drivers’ championships studded across the team’s expansive heritage. However, since 2008, the team has struggled to mount a substantial title challenge. This has resulted in a tough 16-year-long streak which has surpassed their previous largest spell of winless campaigns between 1983-1999.
On the other hand, the sport’s most successful driver, Lewis Hamilton is now aiming to end this rut. The seven-time champion would make his debut with the prancing horses and partner Charles Leclerc.
Observing the trend, Lawrence Barretto feels the Ferrari duo could bring Constructor’s glory back to the Italian team.
With Charles Leclerc at his highest level and the arrival of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, I predict that this devastating pair will bring the Constructors’ crown back to Maranello for the first time since 2008.

However, Ferrari is expected to get tough competition from McLaren in the 2025 title race. This was witnessed in Barretto’s predictions as he vowed for Lando Norris to win his maiden driver’s title amidst the likes of Hamilton and Leclerc.
Would Ferrari regret signing Lewis Hamilton amidst his dip in form?
Though Hamilton is a seven-time champion, his past few seasons have not been impressive. Post 2021, the Briton seemingly lost his magic touch as he was comfortably beaten by a young teammate in the form of George Russell across all metrics. This led people to go as far as deeming him the disappointment of the year.

Despite this, Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur was adamant that he made the right choice. He recalled the race in Las Vegas and asserted that Hamilton is not all gone despite the chatter surrounding him.
Not at all. Have a look at the 50 laps that he did in Vegas, starting from P10, finishing on the gearbox of Russell – I’m not worried at all.

On the other hand, having two top drivers could be both a boon and a bane. With Hamilton’s arrival, Leclerc would be hoping to have the upper hand in intra-team relations. This may cause a situation of conflict, this could lead Ferrari into a downward trajectory in the 2025 campaign.
