Ralf Schumacher, the former F1 driver, has backed Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz to be the best man in line for the vacant 2025 Mercedes seat. Sainz has yet to make a solid statement regarding his future after news broke that he would be replaced by Lewis Hamilton next year.

Carlos Sainz has been nothing short of brilliant this season and has won the Australian Grand Prix while scoring five podiums. The 29-year-old has reportedly received compelling offers from many teams on the grid but has since not made any inclining comments towards one or the other.

Ralf Schumacher has claimed that the talented Spaniard would be a perfect fit for Mercedes, given his skill and consistency. On the other hand, Mercedes has shown immense interest in signing F2 Prema sensation Andrea Kimi Antonelli in 2025 to give one of their home-grown talent a chance. Schumacher has highlighted that Sainz has been on a waitlist to race for the Silver Arrows, because of which he has not pursued an interest in Williams Racing or Audi.

I see Sainz as the most likely option to be George Russell’s teammate in 2025. Everyone thought he would go to Williams, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. The door is now open for him at Alpine, but he still sees a chance at Mercedes, because Toto Wolff has indicated that the situation has changed again.
Ralf Schumacher spoke to SkySports Deustchland

Carlos Sainz is currently fourth in the drivers’ championship and has put in tireless performances for Ferrari despite their recent decline in performance. The talented Spaniard will now try to perform at the same level to secure a move to a team that is most desired by him.

Guenther Steiner claims Lewis Hamilton has ‘nothing to prove’ ahead of Ferrari move

I think Lewis is above pressure. Put this way, in his life he has achieved so much that he has become an icon of the sport. But he took the decision to go there. He's a seven-time world champion, he has nothing to prove. It will not be him failing Ferrari, that's my opinion.
Guenther Steiner told select media including RacingNews365

Lewis Hamilton departs Mercedes after 12 glorious years in search of a record eighth championship in his career. Guenther Steiner has said that Hamilton’s decision to join the Maranello-based team is for the sole purpose of winning.

He has, however, also shed light on multiple unsuccessful expeditions by the team to win the championship for over a decade. Keeping in view everything that has been discussed, the 2025 season will be an extremely fascinating watch from the point of view of Hamilton’s fans.
